Microsoft Management Console

Unless you have the Microsoft Management Console (MMC) Version 1.1 or later installed on your system, the OpenEdge Installation Utility installs it. You must have one of the following language versions of Windows for the OpenEdge Installation Utility to successfully install the MMC: English, French, German, Spanish, Dutch, and Brazilian Portuguese. If you do not have the MMC Version 1.1 or later installed, the Progress Explorer graphical administration tools cannot function. In this case you receive a warning message that tells you to install MMC Version 1.1 in the appropriate language.

You can obtain information about acquiring different language versions of MMC Version 1.1 from Microsoft’s Web site. You can continue with the installation after viewing the warning message, but the Progress Explorer cannot function until you have installed MMC Version 1.1 or later.

The OpenEdge Installation Utility installs MMC under the following conditions:

If MMC is not already installed on your system and you have one of the language versions of Windows listed previously, then the installation utility installs MMC Version 1.1.
If MMC Version 1.1 or later is already installed, then the installation utility does not install MMC.
If MMC Version 1.0 is already installed and you have one of the six language versions of Windows listed previously, then the installation utility installs MMC Version 1.1.

The OpenEdge Installation Utility calls the Microsoft-supplied install program to install the MMC. This installation also requires Microsoft Internet Explorer Version 4.01 or later and Microsoft Java 3177 or later.
